Industry veteran Roy Campanella II has made it his business to bring
African-American themed projects to fruition. As a highly acclaimed
award-winning director, writer, and producer, Campanella's work
consistently transcends the traditional fare offered in mainstream
television and film today.
In a groundbreaking deal, Campanella and his production company,
Directors' Circle Filmworks, was chosen to produce ten original telefilms
for Black Entertainment Television (BET). Campanella produced the
entire slate and directed three of the cable movies: Masquerade,
Rendevous, and Playing With Fire. He used this ten picture
commitment to create Hollywood's first African American owned and
operated full service studio.
Campanella is known for directing some of the most dynamic television
of the past decade. His credits include the celebrated 1992 PBS television
movie, Brother Future, which earned him awards from the prestigious
Directors Guild of America as well as the Columbus International Film
Festival. Among Campanella's long list of television directing credits,
more than one hundred hours of prime time television, are series such as
Beverly Hills 90210, Dr. Quinn - Medicine Woman, I'll Fly Away, Life Goes
On, Wiseguy, Frank's Place, Homefront, and two CBS telefilms, Quiet
Victory and Body of Evidence.
The namesake of his famous father, the Hall of Fame Brooklyn Dodger,
