Phoenix Walker
Male Lead, Age 18–25, WHITE Tattooed rock star; confident, damaged, intense; redemption arc. A gifted but tortured rock star. Phoenix is charismatic, rebellious, and impulsive — an archetypal bad boy with real trauma underneath. The son of an abusive father, he carries deep emotional scars and addiction issues. Over the course of the story, he transforms from a reckless, ego-driven musician into a remorseful man seeking redemption. The role demands depth: swagger, vulnerability, and musical authenticity. Actor must be comfortable portraying addiction, anger, guilt, and raw intimacy. Guitar skills or credible performance ability preferred. Requires multiple scenes with physical intensity and stunts (fights, emotional breakdowns, panic attacks)
Sabrina Simmons
Main Supporting / Antagonist - Age: 18-21 - WHITE Mean girl antagonist; manipulative and vain; later humiliated. Sabrina is the story’s primary antagonist — a manipulative, beautiful, and socially dominant “mean girl” who bullies Lennon in high school and resurfaces later as a self-serving adult. She represents cruelty, vanity, and insecurity hiding beneath glamour. The role calls for strong presence and emotional range: comic timing for social cruelty, physicality in confrontation scenes, and nuance to keep her believable rather than cartoonish. One major humiliation sequence (food fight, public meltdown) requires controlled stunt-like blocking.
Storm
Main Supporting - Age: 18-25 - Open Ethnicity Drummer; outspoken loyal friend; comic and emotional support. Phoenix’s drummer and oldest friend, Storm balances humor with heart. Outspoken, loyal, and occasionally reckless, he’s both comic relief and emotional anchor for the band. In later episodes, Storm challenges Phoenix’s choices, delivering some of the most grounded moral moments. Needs good comedic rhythm and authenticity as a musician. No intimacy scenes; minor physical action (punch, scuffle).
Diane Gomez
A single LatinX mom that would do anything for her 20ish son. When younger she was a dancer and could charm anyone but has recently lost her confidence.

Jessie
Jessie hates being home because she feels like just another failure in a town full of them. If she doesn’t get out by the time the layoffs impoverish the town for good, then she’ll be stuck, and her fate sealed. Desperate for cash, she swallows her pride and sells kitschy paintings to the locals. But as she connects with the people buying them, she begins to see that the town isn’t as hopeless as she thought.
Pauline
Meek but cheerful, Pauline raised her daughter as a single mother working nightshift at the steel mill. Though she’s terrified about the layoffs, she tells Jessie they’re a rumour, since she doesn’t want to scare her away from home.
Kurt
Kurt gets fired from the mill for talking about the coming layoffs. An inveterate optimist, he spends the following days standing outside the factory, talking to workers and trying to convince them of the need to fight back against the shutdown.
Judd
An old steelworker who falls in love with Jessie’s painting of the Mahoney barn. He and his friends used to play in it as kids.
BAKAR
Male, 25-30, Black (BIPOC), is an HIV Positive addict with an impatient, crusty and volatile disposition in the same vein as Logan Roy in Succession. A sensitive manipulator but not a victim, Bakar understands his unchecked rage prevents him from getting what he wants, so he spends most of his time trying to keep his cool. A HINT TO BAKAR and THE SCENE: This is a nuanced drama with dark comedy woven throughout. Try resisting the impulse to lean into the “AIDS of it all” concentrating instead on each character’s motives.
DR.KIMBLE
Male, 60’s, White, is a straight, good-natured, overworked, HIV/AIDS doctor who has serviced the gay men in Vancouver for years. He is a non-judgmental ally who’s seen it all and isn’t fazed by volatile patients like Bakar. All he wants is to get through his day of patients, ride his motorcycle home, kick back and enjoy the game with his wife and friends. A HINT TO BAKAR and THE SCENE: This is a nuanced drama with dark comedy woven throughout. Try resisting the impulse to lean into the “AIDS of it all” concentrating instead on each character’s motives.

Female and/or female presenting, 35, open ethnicity. Mousy and hesitant. Malleable, although she doesn’t know it. Josie has played “by the rules” her entire life and, quite frankly, is getting sick of it. About to discover a side of herself that she didn’t know existed.

Female and/or female-presenting, 36, open ethnicity. Subtly manipulative. Has always been the outcast. Slightly unstable, but excellent at hiding it. A thoracic surgeon dying of lung cancer.
ANDY
Male and/or male-presenting, 37, open ethnicity. Wannabe bro to the max. Was probably the most popular guy in his high school and intends to ride that wave well into his forties. Andy always gets what he wants.
George
A withdrawn recent graduate living with his single mother, Connie. Aimless and depressed, he finds solace in playing the saxophone. Their close relationship begins to fray as she pressures him to help around the house. When he hears noises from the attic and Connie grows secretive, his paranoia deepens.
Connie
George’s mother, a caring but exhausted woman coping with unspoken grief. Frustrated by his inaction, she throws herself into housework. Secretly, she’s begun caring for a squatter living in their attic, finding renewed purpose and companionship in helping him, something that slowly shifts her attention away from her own son.
Nico
A quiet, mysterious squatter secretly living in George and Connie’s attic. Polite and grateful toward Connie, he shows no signs of harm despite George’s growing suspicion. His calm presence blurs the line between sincerity and manipulation as he slowly begins to take George’s place within the household.

And cooperating means loving her clone aka herself. CLO - Female, Mid 20s, any ethnicity. Sloan’s clone created by the Verwan Institute for a trial psychological experiment intended to teach Sloan self-love.
