Wu Hao
By arranged marriage, Wu Hao has to secretly hide his true sexuality from the conservative, immigrant thinkings in order to escape the public’s judgement about being an open gay man. Despite being married to Xi Meng, Hao never failed a single second in his life as the role of a husband, he’s loving, caring and supportive of his wife. Due to the critical conditions of Meng’s health, their love is tested when he must choose between revealing his hidden secret or getting the money to save his wife.
Xi Meng
Although having an arranged marriage, Xi Meng protected and loved her husband despite his secret Queer sexuality, which her has hid from her. When a terminal illness threatens her life the couple decides his to enter into a game show which test their relationship's core. However, through Halo's courage to reveal his sexuality, Meng is able to gracefully release her sense of responsibility by extending her forgiveness and acceptance. Ultimately, allowing her own personal liberation as she starts a new life.
Young Wu Hao
Stoic and sincere Hao works to make a better life once immigrating to the US, despite his lack of English skills causing elements of culture shock. He is eventually touched by Meng's persistence and drive to build a new life. He then tried to support, love and care for his wife he is feels shameful for a keeping the secret of his sexuality hidden.
Young Xi Meng
Meng is a committed, loyal wife who builds a strong home foundation in America for the immigrant couple, while trying to maintain her relationship with the heavy weight of Hao's secret sexuality upon her. Due to her fear of cultural social ridicule, gracefully stands by his side. Although, she is determined that moving to the US will their lives; making her not afraid to step out of her comfort zone with strength and tenacity.
Young Yuri
· Physical Traits: Preferably black hair and green eyes, but an exact match is not required. We may use washable hair spray if needed. · Performance Requirements: Needs to show protectiveness over Young Ilyas while also expressing fear. Ability to display emotional depth and concern for his "brother." Must be comfortable acting in intense and dramatic scenes. Strong non-verbal acting skills preferred.
Young Ilyas
· Physical Traits: Preferably dark blonde hair and light brown eyes, but close matches are welcome. Hair color adjustments (e.g., washable hair spray) may be used if necessary. Performance Requirements: Must be able to follow simple instructions and take direction well. Needs to convincingly portray a sense of trauma and fear. Must be able to perform a scene where he pretends to hit something on the ground with a Styrofoam rock (no actual harm will take place). Strong facial expressions and body language to convey inner conflict.
