Cadete
Hombre mexicano, joven. Cabello rapado al ras, porte castrense. Presencia rígida, mirada al frente. Cadete asignado a la Corte de Justicia–Residencia Oficial. Formación estricta, disciplina absoluta. Opera bajo protocolo: ejecuta, no cuestiona. De pocas palabras, responde lo justo. Su conducta es precisa, casi mecánica; cada gesto está medido, cada movimiento, entrenado. No se adelanta ni se excede. No busca protagonismo: es engrane. Su identidad está en la función.
SOC PRINCIPAL
Looking for a REAL FAMILY: Mom, Dad, and 2-3 kids between the ages of 8-12. Any ethnicity. The shoot will be a doc-style shoot. Looking for a warm family who likes having fun together. Activities could include bowling, laser tag, and an elevated ropes course. **Must be okay with heights.
Film #1: Marco (Lead) / Film #2: John (Supporting Lead)
Film#1: The Loyalty Test Marco (Lead) Age: 35 Height: Any Physical Appearance: Composed, quietly handsome. The kind of man who watches more than he speaks. Must read as both genuinely warm and dangerously calm — sometimes in the same moment. Description: A husband who has already done the math. Marco moves through the script with complete, controlled patience — planting the trap in Scene 1, playing the fool in Scene 4, and watching it all land in Scene 5. Requires the ability to play oblivious convincingly while the audience slowly understands he is anything but. Critical: the collapse in Scene 3 must sell total believability, and the doorway entrance in Scene 5 must land as the reveal it is. ---- Film#2: Ghost of Her Past John (Supporting Lead) Age: 30s Height: Any Physical Appearance: Solid, warm, conventionally handsome. The kind of man who shows up. Must read as genuinely good — not a villain, not a placeholder. A man who deserved better than this. Description: A husband who walked into a broken family and held it together for three years — and is now losing it to a ghost. John's arc moves from blindsided to desperate to dignified. Must never play resentment as cruelty. Critical: the anniversary line in Scene 1 must land as a gut punch not a quip, the drunk Scene 4 must read as a good man at his absolute limit, and the exit must be the most heartbreaking thing in the script — a man choosing grace when he has every right not to.
Film#1: Alana (Lead) / Film#2: Liv (Lead)
Film#1: The Loyalty Test ALANA (Lead) Age: 30-35 Height: Any Physical Appearance: Warm, grounded, quietly sharp. The person in the room you underestimate. Description: Reed's wife and Marco's accomplice — though the audience doesn't know the second part until Scene 5. Alana plays the concerned friend through most of the script, which means the reveal of her role must feel both surprising and completely inevitable in retrospect. Must play confusion convincingly in Scene 2 and deliver the Scene 5 pivot with complete authority. Critical: "There's a lawyer downstairs, Reed. I'd go" must land as the button it is — no hesitation, no heat. ----- Film#2: Ghost of Her Past LIV (Lead) Age: 30s Height: Any Physical Appearance: Naturally beautiful, emotionally open. The kind of woman whose face tells the whole story before she speaks. Must read as simultaneously strong and completely undone. Description: A woman who rebuilt her life from nothing and is now watching it come apart at the seams. Liv's journey moves from shock through guilt through grief to a choice she can't take back. Must hold genuine love for two men without playing either as performance. Critical: the doorway collapse must be visceral, the backyard scene must earn the tears, the bedroom scene must feel like a woman who already knows the answer and can't say it yet, and the final scene must land as relief not victory.
Film #1: Reed (Supporting) / Film #2: Billy (Lead)
Film#1: The Loyalty Test REED (Supporting) Age: 30-35 Height: Any Physical Appearance: Conventionally attractive, effortlessly smug. The kind of man who has always found a way out of things. Description: A man who believes charm is a get-out-of-jail-free card — and has never been proven wrong. Reed moves through the script with easy confidence right up until his hand won't let go of a champagne glass. Must play the excuse in Scene 3 as a genuine attempt, not a joke. Critical: the stuck-glass moment must land as the reveal it is, and the Scene 5 backpedal must escalate from smooth to desperate. ----- Film#2: Ghost of Her Past BILLY (Lead) Age: 30s Height: Any Physical Appearance: Lean, weathered, quietly intense. The kind of man who carries everything inward. Must read as both genuinely warm and genuinely haunted. Description: A soldier who let his family believe he was dead to keep them safe — and is now standing in the wreckage of that decision. Billy's arc moves from tentative to present to committed. Must play love without desperation and restraint without coldness. Critical: the reunion with Charlie must be completely unguarded, the backyard scene must hold still under Liv's anger, and the final pull of his family into his arms must feel like a man who has been waiting five years for that exact moment.

Carmen
Carmen is an aspiring writer and life-long city girl. She’s polite, thoughtful, and self-assured. She’s empathetic to a fault and often hides her true feelings until she’s had time to fully process them. Carmen has agreed to accompany her boyfriend home for his father’s funeral. Carmen has never felt particularly welcome in their home, but loves Jesse enough to be there for his sake. *This role is intended for a trans performer.*
Jesse
Jesse is a simple guy from a small town family, now enjoying his life in the city. Though he was always popular in school, he has recently found a sort of freedom in his life with his girlfriend and her friends. He’s chill, charismatic, and light-hearted. The passing of his father weighs heavy on Jesse, as he finds himself conflicted between grief and his complicated feelings about his overbearing father. Jesse has asked Carmen (his gf) to accompany him home for his father’s funeral, knowing it will stir up drama but hoping everyone will be too distracted to really notice. He finds comfort in Carmen he knows he won’t find in his own family.
Tammy
Tammy is a loving mother, a hard worker, and a peacemaker. She has spent the majority of her life in the same town, and has become very protective of her family and friends. Her children, Jesse & Lex, and her husband Richard are her whole life. After her kids moved out, and now Richard passing, Tammy feels an intense loneliness and a certain loss of self. Tammy is less than happy to see Carmen (her son's trans gf) on her doorstep the evening before her husband’s funeral. While she herself does not resent Carmen, she feels a duty to honour her late husband’s disdain, as well as a protectiveness over her son.
RAMON
Latino, in his 30s. Warehouse worker. A naive, and passive man, who believes that following authority and sticking to the rules will always lead to a better outcome no matter what. For him the world gets reduced to the material; money is the answer to his problems in every aspect of his life. The idyllic white picket fence life is the goal to achieve, while morals and principles are too complicated to understand and commit to.
JULIE
Open ethnicity, in her 30’s. Librarian. Most people would describe her as a generous and kind person with a strong sense of social justice, but behind doors a feeling of guilt creeps in. She wonders if her selfless decisions are enough to compensate for past wrongdoings. Nevertheless, she is convinced in the power of transforming people through books and when the government starts to ban books she and her friends decide to take the streets, despite putting her safety at risk.
DARLENE
Open ethnicity, in her 50s, warehouse manager. A very strong, forceful, and extremely opinionated woman who is accustomed to imposing her wishes and views upon others. At the warehouse she is the enforcer of rules and enjoys the little power that her position grants her. For her, life is black and white and she believes the new regime is going to bring a Golden Age; a second chance to make it in life.
CLAIRE
Open ethnicity, 30s, government bureaucrat, Internal Affairs. She is the smile and young face of the regime, but behind the face of good cop lies a cold and calculated character who won’t stop short of achieving her goals. She has been tasked by The Ministry to hunt down people in every branch of the government who might be related to the dissidence.
SILVERY VOICE
Open ethnicity, voice over only. The preaching voice of the Ministry. Deep, dark. Goosebumps explode on your skin every time you hear it.
Nate
TEEN NATE - Caucasian Nate is eighteen and already an expert at not dealing with things. Punk posters on his wall, no plan for his life, a father who doesn't see him and a mother who isn't there anymore. He has learned that the best way to survive a house full of absence is to just not be in it. He is mouthy and defiant, quick with a deflection, quick with a joke, quick to pick a fight rather than admit he's hurting. But underneath the noise is a kid who failed to get into any university, just lost his girlfriend, and genuinely doesn't know what he is or where he is going. The bravado is real. So is the lostness behind it. He is not a sad kid performing toughness. He is genuinely funny, genuinely warm, and capable of real joy. Scenes turn on a dime from argument to laughter to unguarded friendship, and the actor has to ride that without pushing any of it. The role ends with Nate creeping back into his father's dark house alone and opening a door he was never meant to open. The actor needs to land the full weight of that moment. Requirements: Caucasian, age 17–19. Naturalistic and understated. No indicating, no pushing for emotion. Strong comic timing. The banter with Teen Jam is fast and lived-in. Able to shift from lightness to genuine shock without a visible gear change. Comfortable with crude humour and mature themes. Requirements: Naturalistic and understated. No indicating, no pushing for emotion. Strong comic timing — the banter with Teen Jam is fast and lived-in. Able to shift from lightness to genuine shock and distress without a visible gear change. Comfortable with crude humour and mature themes.
Jam
Jam is eighteen and already the kind of person rooms reorganize around. Easy smile, quick instincts, the natural gravitational center of any group he walks into. He grew up fast, had a shitty home situation, and came out of it warm rather than hard. Being the one who holds things together is not a role he was assigned. It is just who he is. He reads people faster than they read themselves. When his friend storms into a video store furious and aimless, Jam follows, absorbs it, and redirects the whole night without making a thing of it. He is funny without trying, steady without being stiff, and genuinely good at turning a bad moment into a better one. The warmth is real. So is the quiet effort underneath it. The role lives in the in-between moments. The glance that clocks what someone else missed. The joke that lands because it is actually kind. The actor needs to make being the most grounded person in the room feel effortless. Requirements: Caucasian, Naturalistic and confident. Jam never pushes, never announces himself. Genuine comic timing with real warmth behind it. Strong reactive listening. A lot of this role is in the response, not the line. Comfortable with crude humour and mature themes.
MALE (LEAD)
Speaking role. Male, age range 30-40. MUST BE OPEN TO BEING SHAVEN FULLY BALD! MUST be comfortable eating and enjoying spicy chicken sandwich on camera. He is slightly rugged and is confident. He has a believable Midwest vibe to him - the kind of person who leans against his pickup truck at a Speedway and knows exactly what he likes. This role is performance-driven and largely nonverbal. Talent must be highly expressive and able to communicate flavor, heat, and enjoyment physically, without overplaying comedy. Key Traits: • Confident via a bite moment and grounded, not cartoony • Has experience and is comfortable eating on camera • Able to play subtle pleasure, anticipation, and mounting intensity • Excellent facial control and physical storytelling • Comfortable being bald on camera, with sweat visible
Devon
Male, Black, age range 24-28. Devon clearly came from a strong church upbringing - he was the star in the gospel choir, and we can all see why. He is expressive, emotionally open and carries himself as the polished performer, while carrying a quiet shame of his past. Learning at a young age that the love and approval of his father had to be earned through masculinity, image and faith, he was (and still is) the church centered "good boy". He has internalized the rejection from an event out of his control, and now reclaims his voice . . . but this time, he does it outside the sanctuary. Strong character arc with beautifully written monologue. Talent must be available for all rehearsals (we will do our best to schedule rehearsals around the schedules of our entire cast), and will be paying a $100 gas stipend + $50 wardrobe bump, if talents wardrobe is utilized. Additionally, we will be filming this for purposes of archival. Each actor will receive a copy so they may use this work for the reels.
Casey
BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color), approximately 30 years old. They are androgynous and gender-queer/non-binary/trans-masc. Casey is guarded, with a thin, controlled exterior - used to mask the pain. They alternate between sharp sarcasm and sudden vulnerability. Like a tortoise, the tough exterior shell of sarcasm is used for protection, but the delicate being under the shell is actually quite vulnerable when you are allowed to see it. Casey was a child who buried abuse under obedience and perfection to become the adult who is (finally) beginning to admit the rage and fragility caused by that abuse. Casey has a beautifully written monologue in this work - meant for an actor to truly sink their teeth into.
