Storyline

Spec footage intended to be turned into a feature length project in the next year. The intention is to carry over the same cast to the feature-length version. From writer/director Magdi Omar, this film has received funding from Canada Arts Council. It's an anthology style film with five separate chapters, each highlighting a different aspect of the immigrant experience in Canada. From love, dating, depression, experiencing racism, to finding work and building a new life. Through the experiences of our main protagonist Adam and his core group of immigrant friends, we explore in a lighthearted comedic tone the different challenges new young immigrants face.

Description Middle Eastern man. Managing director of a big advertising agency, he’s aggressive, intimidating, and can be rude sometimes. And even though he’s an immigrant himself and has only been in Canada for 10 years, he looks down on immigrants, especially those of the same background

Description African, Black, North African man. An immigrant to Canada from Africa who’s been in Canada for a couple of years. An outgoing type A personality, a hustler, fast talker, and thinks of himself as a ladies man, which is not necessarily true. He’s also Adam’s (film's protagonist) best friend in Canada.

He’s hyper, animated and a hustler who will say or do anything to get through the immigration process. He has applied for immigration to almost every western country he could apply to, always making up stories. MUST SPEAK ARABIC

Description Middle Eastern OR South Asian woman.
