Description Avery, is struggling with severe insomnia, and the depression that goes with it. In a last-ditch effort to sleep, he agrees to a new prescription he hopes will finally get him some rest. But when he discovers the side-effects of the new meds give him power over his dreaming, he quickly becomes addicted to the misguided idea that he might be able to not only repress his past through his dreams, but re-invent it. As he slips further into self-deceit the memory of his mother re-emerges, and with it the regret from which he can’t hide. Will Grey protect him from the truth, and if he can’t, will Avery have the strength to confront it? | ||

Description Grey is a personification of Avery’s dreaming subconscious mind. As he guides Avery through the maze of his past, he does everything he can to protect him, even if that means keeping him from the truth. With tough-love mixed with empathy, he at first taunts and then urges Avery to forget what he’s repressed. He knows that if Avery realises the tragedy in his past was not his fault, he’ll be forced to move on with his life, which would also result in Grey’s own demise. He wants what he thinks is best for Avery, because he knows that forgetting is sometimes easier than forgiveness. | ||

Description An overworked, yet empathetic and professionally respected Psychiatrist who is struggling to stabilize Avery’s medication-resistant insomnia. When she decides to prescribe him an alternate medication she feels will lead to results, she doesn’t suspect that Avery will lie to her about the rare but potentially harmful side-effects. Hoping that once his sleep is back on track she’ll be able to help him unearth with the real reasons behind his symptoms, she is progressively deceived by Avery’s facade of recovery, unaware that he is falling further into addition and a dangerous stage of denial. | ||
